WickFest and Canadian Tire present $20,000 donation to OWHA

MILTON, ON (October 9, 2025) - WickFest, in partnership with Canadian Tire, proudly announced a $20,000 donation to the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) during the Opening Party of WickFest 2025, celebrating 50 years of leadership, opportunity, and growth in women’s hockey.

The donation, presented on stage by Hayley Wickenheiser, Sandra Mancini (Manager, Community Impact, Canadian Tire), and members of the WickFest organizing team, was received by OWHA President Fran Rider in front of hundreds of young players, families, and fans gathered for the weekend-long girls’ hockey festival.

“WickFest has always been about more than just the game. It’s about building community, confidence, and connection,” said Wickenheiser. “The OWHA has been doing that for 50 years, and Canadian Tire has been an incredible partner in helping us open more doors for girls in hockey.”

The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association, founded in 1975, has long been at the forefront of advancing access and equality in the sport. The $20,000 contribution will directly support OWHA programs that provide greater access and opportunity for girls and women across Ontario to participate, compete, and lead in hockey.

As part of the on-stage ceremony, Wickenheiser praised the tireless work of Rider and Nicholls, who have dedicated decades to growing the game and empowering generations of female athletes.

“This partnership and this moment symbolize what WickFest is all about… collaboration, celebration, and the belief that every girl belongs in the game,” said Rider.
